Spring is in the air
According to many polls, Spring is our favorite season of the year. Maybe it’s because we associate so many positive things with Spring.
The warmer weather has certainly arrived, but weren’t we supposed to have spring before the really hot weather kicked in? I guess this is just the way it is here in Florida, but I, for one, prefer the warmer weather to the chillier weather I left in Pennsylvania many years ago. In any event, Spring is a great time for the following.
Practical Reflections
Spring is a wonderful time to do our spring cleaning and donate belongings we haven’t used for months (or years).
It’s also a chance to reorganize our space, homes or offices to help make them more efficient. How about the idea of adding some natural light into your office space? More sunlight can provide you with energy and help you be more productive. Consider investing in ergonomic products that will help you feel more comfortable and increase your efficiency.
Research studies have shown that working standing up can increase productivity. A work colleague has a tall desk in her office that she uses while standing. She does not have an office chair at her desk but sometimes uses a stand on swivel disc that helps her improve her balance and stamina.
Another idea is paring down your furnishings and eliminating things you don’t need or use. Minimalism seems to be the new wave of the future.
Personal Reflections
Like New Year’s, Spring is also a good time to reflect on the past year (or the most recent few months) and conduct an inventory of ourselves, our goals, and our progress. This inventory should include not only your accomplishments and progress but also your deficiencies or weaknesses. Hopefully, you will see more progress than deterioration or regression.
Life is a process that unfolds little by little, though sometimes abruptly, but always gives us a new day, another spring, another chance to be a little better, a little kinder, more patient, more quiet…
Here are some inspiring Springtime Quotes:
And the Spring arose on the garden fair;
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth’s dark breast
Rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.
-Percy Bysshe Shelley
The air and the earth interpenetrated in the warm gusts of spring;
The soil was full of sunlight, and the sunlight full of red dust.
The air one breathed was saturated with earthy smells,
And the grass under foot had a reflection of blue sky in it.
-Willa Cather
In those vernal seasons of the year, when the air is calm and pleasant,
It were an injury and sullenness against Nature not to go out and see
Her riches, and partake in her rejoicing with heaven and earth.
-John Milton
It was a perfect spring afternoon, and the air was filled with vague, roving scents,
As if the earth exhaled the sweetness of hidden flowers.
-Ellen Glasgow
Morning
The year’s at the spring
And day’s at the morn;
Morning’s at seven;
The hillside’s dew-pearled;
The lark’s on the wing;
The snail’s on the thorn:
God’s in his heaven-
All’s right with the world.
-Robert Browning
Happy Spring to you all!
